We had a messy CERES meeting Wednesday night, but I think things are smoothing over.  I had my recertification for Medicaid yesterday; also messed up, but we got it done.  I did, however, forget to go visit Lenny in prison.

I went to court today to see Lenny’s trial — after I had sat there for 3 hours, they told me that they had already changed the hearing date to May 20.

Guess that’s it for now.

Things went well at the Asheville Homeless Network Board Meeting tonight. We adopted the By-Laws and did lots of other things. Like depleted the budget, right into my pocket (so I can pay for the laser cartridge and website fees).

There was a Witches’ Meetup tonight, but the only other people who showed up had not RSVP’d anyhow… so at least 4 people didn’t show up who said they would…

I love you, my Willow! Not much to say but…

You’re Sorority Slut Barbie! You’re easy and you’re really cheesy! Have fun with the entire football team.

I’ve been keeping busy.  Wrote a flier for Asheville Homeless Network.  Picked up some stuff from Lenny (still in jail), including money — now I can get some fliers printed up.  Have an AHN meeting tomorrow night.  I’ve been making new friends.  Walked around downtown with ColbyCat yesterday.  She’s in the process of moving here; rented a house, will move into it around May 24.  Had a great time.

Willow, I love you.  Miss you terribly.

OK, I’ve lost my place to store my music online.  I’ve found another site to keep it for now, but it won’t stream from there.  Which is why you’re not hearing The Hippopotamus Song right now.  Gotta find another something.  Might just add a radio station stream.

Grrrr I hate it when virus spammers claim to be sysops of the email system.  I’m not dumb enough to open up their virus pack though.  Got two emails today from staff@hippos.ws, both with attached files to solve a problem they’ve seen in my email…  Well, when both viruses I’ve gotten in the past 6 months CAME FROM hippos.ws, I wasn’t about to open their stupid attachment.  I sent them a “fuck off” letter… of course it bounced…

John took me out to see “Hellboy” tonight.  He fell asleep a couple of times, said he was interested but was too full and that made him sleepy.  I enjoyed the hell out of it.  Pun intended.

Making some new friends.  Cool.

I’m really upset with myself.  I should have meditated prior to going to Beanstreets, I had the time to do it and just didn’t.  By the time I got home and got involved in other things (specifically the brochure for Asheville Homeless Network), I had missed my 24-hour deadline on meditating.  So now I’m starting all over, another 108 days (August 11).

Damn.

Me

Well, I got off my lazy ass and took my guitar down to Beanstreets for Open Mic Night.  I can’t remember when the last time I did that was, and they have a different emcee than they had whenever the last time was.  I ran into my friend Ann and her friend Ginny, sang a few songs for them since they weren’t going to be able to stay for my 2-song performance.  In the performance itself, the pickup on my guitar sounded lousy, the guitar sounded very tinny.  The emcee says that we’ll try miking the guitar directly next time.  I did pretty well, played “Lies” and “Bluenose”.  Gotta keep Stan’s memory alive.

I came home and put together a brochure for Asheville Homeless Network.  Jason is adding some text to it, then we’ll print the sucker.

I LOVE YOU MY WILLOW!!!!!!!!!

Guess that’s it for now.

Power of Two
Emily Saliers

Now the parking lot is empty
Everyone’s gone someplace
I pick you up and in the trunk I’ve packed
A cooler and a 2-day suitcase
Cause there’s a place we like to drive
Way out in the country
Five miles out of the city limit we’re singing
And your hand’s upon my knee

So we’re okay; we’re fine
Baby I’m here to stop your crying
Chase all the ghosts from your head
I’m stronger than the monster beneath your bed
Smarter than the tricks played on your heart
We’ll look at them together then we’ll take them apart
Adding up the total of a love that’s true
Multiply life by the power of two

You know the things that I am afraid of
I’m not afraid to tell
And if we ever leave a legacy
It’s that we loved each other well
Because I’ve seen the shadows of so many people
Trying on the treasures of youth
But a road that fancy and fast
Ends in a fatal crash
And I’m glad we got off
To tell you the truth

Cause we’re okay; we’re fine
Baby I’m here to stop your crying
Chase all the ghosts from your head
I’m stronger than the monster beneath your bed
Smarter than the tricks played on your heart
We’ll look at them together then we’ll take them apart
Adding up the total of a love that’s true
Multiply life by the power of two

All the shiny little trinkets of temptation
(make new friends)
Something new instead of something old
(but keep the old)
All you gotta do is scratch beneath the surface
(but remember what is gold)
And it’s fools gold
(what is gold)
Fools gold
(what is gold)
Fools gold

Now we’re talking about a difficult thing
Your eyes are getting wet
But I took us for better and I took us for worse
Don’t you ever forget it
Now the steel bars between me and a promise
Suddenly bend with ease
The closer I’m bound in love to you
The closer I am to free

So we’re okay; we’re fine
Baby I’m here to stop your crying
Chase all the ghosts from your head
I’m stronger than the monster beneath your bed
Smarter than the tricks played on your heart
We’ll look at them together then we’ll take them apart
Adding up the total of a love that’s true
Multiply life by the power of two

Well, Gwenn is leaving.  I guess I should leave the details on my “protected” account.

I haven’t heard from Willow for a while again… I hope she’s all right…  I LOVE YOU MY WILLOW!!!!!!!!

Went to the NC Democratic Caucuses today and voted for my guy, Dennis Kucinich.  I’ve been a Kucinich supporter before anyone suggested to him that he run.  Came home and went to Pritchard Park, where there was another Traveling Bonfires event… had to take the Asheville Homeless Network donation jar.  We made about $12 in donations.

The rest of the day was getting Gwenn settled.

Oh yeah, last night I got email and later a phone call from Chris Berg.  Christopher and I go way back, from the time I moved to South Carolina from Detroit… and moved in with Maeve, who was not quite his ex-wife.  Chris and I were roommates for most of the time I lived in Greenville.  It was good to see him again, it has been several months.  We went to Warren Wilson College Chapel to see some films in the Sacred Cinema series.  Good stuff.  The filmmaker himself presented the three films.
