Everything appears to be working…

Of course, appearances can be deceiving.

The Indiegogo project is, on its face, fully funded, YAYYYY! I still need more to be comfortable about putting out sufficient quantities of the CD, but no more can the site hold over my head its higher level of fees for underfunded projects.

I spent some time with my dear friend Jevim the other night. It’s so hard to decide what to say and what not to, but we had the most powerful ritual I’ve ever been involved in (and statements from her say she felt the same). It went so well that it would be very easy to project the outcomes to areas where they don’t need to go … or maybe need to go but the time is not right … and it’s too soon to even worry about outcomes at all. It was powerful, it was magickal, it helped, and part of me seem to fit together much better than ever. It at least vindicates my long-held theory that there’s a good man in here waiting to be put together with loving help.

I’m getting ready to visit my ex-gf, Nan. She has been doing a lot of work on herself… or discovered that the things she did to me did not work to bind me to her… and as I am a forgiving soul and need the love of my friends, I will spend a couple nights there and see what happens.  I can leave at any time.  I can also bring Sky her coats back which she inadvertently left in my car when we went to GAFilk earlier this month.

There is a strength inside me I have not felt before… but the little kid cringing in fear is still rearing his little head all too often.  Have to get that integrated. May it be soon.

Listening Room

Well, I took some time last night to listen to my tracks in the recording project. There were some high points, but overall I was quite unhappy to the point of a loss of confidence. My FB friends are jumping all over me about that and are telling me to just record the damned things — and I got a check for $40 from someone who sings a lot worse than I do. Guess I got some confidence back, but it’s not all warm and fuzzy.

Tomorrow evening I get to drive icy roads for an hour to go do my first-ever professional recording. I’m trying to not scare myself too much. Talked to Trevis today. Not much of anything else, don’t even think I checked the mail.  Follow your dreams, I’ve dragged my feet too long already following mine.

Thundersnow

We’re having a lightning and thunder storm in the middle of the first real snowfall of the year (we had some sleet a couple weeks ago). It’s amazing… and scary, what with the flashes of power outage. If the power goes out here, I can’t stay warm enough. Don’t have a clue where to go in this town.

It’s beautiful, though…

What Took You So Long?

That’s the working title of my CD. I posted a kickstarter project on Indiegogo.com, asking for $650… the more I get above this number, the more CDs I can produce, but that’s about the minimum.  Already I have almost $150 donated…

What Took You So Long?

I am overwhelmed by the quickness of the project. Over 20% donated in less than 24 hours.  Wow.   Of course, I could have been MORE overwhelmed, but people better-known than I am are struggling to get their projects funded.

Filker up!

I got approached today from a Family member about maybe doing some recording. Gotta get the numbers together to determine what I need, but I have been encouraged enough by my friends that there could be enough money in the form of chip-ins to get going. This is great news. Wonder what I’m going to call the CD?

Home again

I am home after having a terrific time at GAFilk. Got 4 songs recorded to add to my online stuff (and stuff on computer), also found my concert from 2 years ago at Chattacon (almost an hour long) on the same SD card. Had a great time, even did TWO dances (twice as many as last year, one with Cat Faber… and probably those are the only three times I’ve done any dancing in the past 20 years). Pretty much ran the Alternate Filk Saturday night and the Ecumenifilk on Sunday 11-1. I got a compliment from Bill Sutton (!) for the way I ran the Ecumenifilk. I already registered for next year’s con at a $15 discount… just have to find the money for the trip and the hotel room.

I took my old friend Sky with me, and she did not enjoy it as much. She was having major league nerve problems and so was in pain all weekend. But she did enjoy it… Don’t know if I can get her to go to one again.

Dottie was glad to see me, yowled for me to feed her right up until I did. I hate leaving her alone for 3 days but she should be used to it from my attendance at Festivals during the warm parts of the year.

Second Day of Con Report

This is going to be posted backwards, as it is easiest to remember events from the most recent back.

The “Alternate” Filk was a hit and a hoot. Got to be larger than the “Main” filk. We had Talis Kimberly. We had Dave Clement. We had Sandy. We had Amy. And of course, me, Marshall, Gary Ehrlich, Sherman Dorn, and many others. Having Sandy and Dave in the room meant I got to perform “Mary Ellen-or Rigby” for Canadians, in fact, for Canadians who were dyed-in-the-wool Stan Rogers fans.  I got to play most of what I set out to play. Came to bed with Marshall sometime around 4;30.

The Banquet was not that great again food-wise but was not rubber. I actually was asked to dance by Cat Faber, who leads rather well, I’m glad to say, and the lady who asked me to dance last year did as well, so I had two dances rather than the one I had last year.

My TwoforTen concert had me singing “Hands of God”, which I did rather well, and “Scale”, with Cat Faber watching. Some of my friends were busy watching Cat, who was smiling and crying the whole way through, so I must have done well (note that she asked me to dance at the Banquet, which was well after this).

Guess that’s most of what I remember. Oh, I did have some periods of not knowing whether to be happy or cry, and talked to Sky about that. The difference between being at a con with so many friends and being at home alone is enormous. I also do not know whether I can afford to go to another con, although I am scheduling ConCarolinas at the end of May and GAFilk again next year. No way of knowing if the money for those will happen.

Good Times Ahead

Yayyy some good stuff. I’m leaving either tomorrow or very early Friday to pick up a friend in Asheville and go to GAFilk in Atlanta ( http://gafilk.org ). Will be singing my guts out and wearing my fingers to the bone. Taking two guitars and my autoharp.  I already know I’ll have friends there, including at least one family of Family members.  Hugs in the forecast!

If anyone is interested in hearing my music, at least 95% of what has been recorded is sitting in a Box.com folder. Write me and give me your box.net email account address (and if you don’t have one, join — it’s free) and I’ll give you access.

Mind you, it’s not professionally recorded, although the newer stuff has pretty good (but raw) recording quality.
