A-Barding We Will Go

As the newest member of the Triad College of Barding, I spent much time both Saturday and Sunday with Emrys and Faucon. Had a wonderful time, including a birthday party for Faucon yesterday with about 30 people from various walks of life. Faucon sent me another of his poems, and read me two of his published stories. Emmy sang more songs, I sang more songs. Emmy now has a copy of my CD. And she blessed me with the loan of a harp, a 25-string Irish harp with sharping levers on all 25 strings. I need to get a tuning wrench, the one for my autoharps is too small.

She also requires me to perform more, and the two of them are taking me to Asheville for a performance on the 25th of October at the Disappearing Wheels Project.

I would consider that a FINE weekend. Time to take things more seriously.

OhLife Ends

I was saddened over the weekend by an announcement that OhLife.com, the place where I write my daily secret thoughts thanks to a daily prompting in my email which only requires me to reply, is closing. I’ve been posting here for over 3.5 years. They couldn’t get the user base or the income levels they needed… I have no clue what their income structure was, but if they’re selling private data from a private diary site, that’s just WRONG… and how else do you monetize a diary site?

At any rate, I now need to find a place to do this. Yeah, I could do it on my home computer, but it would require more memory (meat, not electronic), something OhLife did not.

To the woods I go…

It has been a rough week at work. Yesterday was hectic beyond belief. But tonight I head for Walking Fern to commune with my brothers and sisters. Might get to do a few songs, lots of firelight, hope the weather’s not bad. Nothing spectacular — except that this will be the first Gathering I’ve been to this year, other than Men’s Gathering. Hope you all have a great weekend!

Feed the Bards

Blessings abound. I have been accepted on the path of the Triad Bardic school. I have my first assignment. Gotta get cracking. Blessings on Lady Emrys and Faucon. Got to do a lot of walking around primitive and semi-primitive land as well, with some potential future regarding that land.

More on Spam

I fail to see why anyone reading my blog would be interested in knock-off bags or imitation Nike Jordan sneakers anyhow… I can’t afford knock-offs and am not pretentious enough to want to show myself as “fashionable” anyhow, and have this bizarre concept that my readership is much like me. But if you would like me to leave the spam up there so you can click on the links and lose all your data, let me know and I’d be happy to oblige.

Dillsboro Aftermath

I had a great time at Dogwood Insight. I played for over an hour with good attention. I played a lot of songs I don’t get to play too many places, emotional ones with positive feelings. I sold a CD, was paid double what I was promised for gas, and left 2 CDs there in case some of the “wafflers” change their mind. I did not, however, get to spend any time with Nan. 🙁 My trip home was uneventful, I got home around 10 pm. Went out and bought groceries today, things I haven’t been able to afford like yogurt and buttermilk. I think I have a slow leak in one tire, I’m going to get that checked tomorrow.

Dogwood Insight

I have another concert this weekend. It’s at Dogwood Insight, in Dillsboro NC. I don’t expect a large crowd, but they did promise me $30 in gas money and the right to sell my unofficial CDs. The original planning was to have a large gala celebration, but apparently the person in charge of sending out the invitations didn’t do so. No problem, always can use a place to play.  If Nan is in good enough health, I will go a bit out of my way and take her with me.

I am still waiting to hear from Emmy about getting training or just meeting with her. Something happened last weekend and I think I got lost in the cracks.
