Lord of Light
Harry Smothers
(Tune: "I Am Lord", lyrics by Gwen Zak, music by Leslie Fish)
I am Lord, Lord of Light, see me wake to the test
Though you tore me from my sub-eternal rest
I will rise, I will try to remember the jest
In my heart, in my soul, in my eyes
In the rattle of dice, I my strength did regain
By the scatter of mice, by Rakashas' flame
By the love of my Lady who bore Ratri's name,
We will will rise, we will fight -- we may die
I am Lord, Lord of Light, we can pull Heaven down
Claim the treasures the Gods use to hold Man down
But, with powers of gods and of demons and man,
Still, we only can do what we can.
I am Lord, Lord of Light, I'm the source of your might.
Of disciples I've had, only one saw the Light.
And he went to his death with an odd, peaceful bent:
Yama came, Yama slew, Yama went.
I am Lord, Lord of Light -- I am fraud, I am hoax
I move mountains with wires; moving Brahma takes jokes.
In my gardens, you'll find many truths told as lies
Hear my words, hear my plans; damn your eyes!
I am Lord; we have lost. I'm just Trimurti's joke,
Vishnu's new Avatar, lots of mirrors and smoke.
Now your children just know I cook green eggs and ham --
Do not like. Will not eat. Sam-I-Am.
