Rocky Coastline High
Harry Smothers
(Tune: "Rocky Mountain High" by John Denver)
He was bored in the middle of the 27th hole
Playing golf in a place he'd often shaved his score
He left 28 behind him, you might say he was bored again
You might say he'd heard "The Eagle Song" before
When he first came to the ocean, his life was doing well
On the road, and singing many songs
Windstar is really smokin', and Snowmass doesn't care
Life changes fast, and may not last too long
Well, he climbed the coastal currents
He saw granite cliffs below
He saw everything as far as he could see
They say that he got rapture once and tried to buzz the sun
But he didn't note the fuel gauge nearing "E"
Now he flies in quiet solitude through the thermals and the clouds
Feeling grace, and every thing adored
His sight is clear inside himself, it helps him understand
The serenity of a clear green ocean floor
Now his life is full of wonder, but his eyes grow wide with fear
As he sees the dial prophecies Death's hand
He changes tanks, to no avail, his craft will barely steer
And becomes one famous scar upon the land
(Repeat chorus)
* Friends around the golf course, the beer has them a mile high
